- High resistance to alkalis: Roving AR glass fiber has excellent resistance to alkaline environments due to its high percentage of zirconium oxide (ZrO₂) (about 16 to 20 percent). This property makes it suitable for use in concrete and composite materials.
- High tensile strength: These fibers have high tensile strength, which makes them effective in reinforcing composite materials such as concrete and cement.
- Good flexibility: Roving AR glass fibers have good flexibility and can be easily formed into various forms, including mats or filaments, during the production process.
- Corrosion resistance: Unlike other metal materials that may corrode when exposed to chemicals, AR glass fibers are resistant to corrosive environments such as acidic or alkaline environments.
- Light weight: These fibers are much lighter than metal reinforcement materials, which reduces the overall weight of the structure and consequently reduces transportation and installation costs.
- Ability to use in concrete Reinforced: One of the main applications of AR glass fibers is in the production of Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GRC or GFRC), where it is used as a reinforcement to improve the mechanical properties of concrete, such as increasing flexural strength and Tensile strength is used.
- Non-conductivity of electricity: These fibers act as electrical insulators and are therefore used in projects that require electrical insulation.
- High durability: Due to their high resistance to atmospheric conditions and corrosive environments, Roving AR fibers are very durable and the lifespan of materials reinforced with these fibers is increased.
In general, Roving AR glass fibers are considered an ideal option for use in the construction industry, especially in the construction of concrete and composite structures, due to their excellent resistance to alkalis and outstanding mechanical properties.
Roving glass fiber is a set of a certain number of continuous strands that are gathered around a cylindrical spool without mechanical twisting. Roving glass fibers with excellent distribution and wettability are suitable for cutting processes or producing materials with low to medium fiber content.
